City of Winnipeg Street Parking

On-street parking around the University of Winnipeg is controlled by the Winnipeg Parking Authority. Solar powered parking meters located on the street accept payment with credit cards and most Canadian coins.

Downtown parking is usually $1 per hour up to 2 hours when using cash or credit cards. If your visit at the University is longer than 2 hours, paying by phone gives you the option of getting text reminders and extending your time without having to go back outside to your vehicle.

  • Monday - Friday: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm: $1/hour
  • Monday - Friday: 5:30 pm - 9:00 am: free parking
  • Saturdays: 2 hours free
  • Sundays: free parking

Transferable Pay Station Receipts

You can pay for your street parking by phone if you have a free Verrus account. There is a small service charge when using the service.

  • Register for your free Verrus account.
  • Program the phone number in your phone: (204) 957-7275.
  • Make note of the location "zone number" for the meter you are using. For example, one zone near UWinnipeg DCE is 5461.

When you are parking on the street, you:

  • call the Verrus number: (204) 957-7275,
  • enter your login information (10-digit phone number and PIN),
  • enter the zone number (Example: 5461),
  • enter the number of minutes you wish to park for (Example: 360),
  • and then confirm.
