Public Relations & Marketing Management Diploma Program (Full-time)
This program will prepare you to work as a public relations practitioner in a corporate or not-for-profit environment. The courses will provide you with a broad foundation of PR and marketing-specific knowledge and skills with an emphasis on best practices, and current and emerging issues.

- Analyze consume buying patterns, employ marketing tools and research methodologies to determine environmental and competitive factors affecting products and services, and develop new products and/or services meriting consumer interest and increasing market share
- Master public relations communications writing template including: a well-tooled press kit, news releases, annual reports, newsletters, brochure content, and personality profiles
- Plan and direct the crisis and change management process
- Coordinate and prepare material for internal and external promotional publications, including planning articles, editing copy, supervising print preparation, distributing publications
- Gain an understanding of digital communication technologies, their impact in traditional approaches to public relations and marketing, and how to adapt print-based collaterals for this new medium
- Exercise sound financial decision-making and budgeting skills

Graduates of the full-time Public Relations Diploma Program may be eligible for up to a maximum of 30 hours of credit for the following course equivalents when pursuing a degree at the University of Winnipeg:

Required Courses
In this course, participants will be introduced to general rules of grammar and basic editing strategies to help them streamline their writing, reduce wordiness, identify common grammar errors and improve sentence structure.
The Writing for Public Relations III course is the capstone of the public relations writing courses. This course helps participants further develop their writing skills by producing a variety of longer communication pieces commonly used by public relations professionals in their daily work. The course dissects annual reports, grant proposals, position papers, and other essential communication reports so that participants can produce strategic and persuasive documents. Key elements cover the legal requirements, the information gathering process, the writing essentials, and the basics of layout and design.
Designed and developed to be of relevance to both sponsors and event organizers, this course will lead participants through the process of sponsorship marketing, with emphasis on practical tools and applications. Through a comprehensive exploration of sponsorship marketing – from sponsor selection and confirmation, to proposal writing and financial, legal, and ethical considerations, to event management and evaluation – participants will develop an understanding of the strategic and practical components of event management, with particular focus on the role of the corporate sponsor.
This course will provide students with an overview of Canadian politics as it relates to public relations practitioners. Topics covered will include Canadian political culture, government institutions, political participation, political parties and elections, the role of media and public opinion. Covered also will be topics as they apply to municipal and provincial politics.
This course is designed to prepare participants for the internship application process and to re-enter the workforce after graduating from a UWDCE full-time program.
The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Fundamentals course provides students with a solid foundation in the basics of the Adobe Photoshop CS4 application, one of the most popular software applications for working with digital graphics. Students will discuss digital graphics in general, learn to navigate the program interface, use the numerous tools, and save files for display on the Web.
