The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Fundamentals course provides students with a solid foundation in the basics of the Adobe Photoshop CS4 application, one of the most popular software applications for working with digital graphics. Students will discuss digital graphics in general, learn to navigate the program interface, use the numerous tools, and save files for display on the Web.

Objectives: 

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss the different digital graphic formats, bitmap versus vector graphics, and how these graphic formats apply to Adobe Photoshop CS4 software;
  • Work with the primary elements of the Photoshop interface including the work area, the toolbox, the application and option bars, menus, and palettes;
  • Learn how to create, retouch, adjust, size, and save Photoshop image files;
  • Organize page content into layers and manipulate those layers;
  • Apply rulers, grids, and guides to position page content.
