Advanced Diploma In Leadership In Early Childhood Care And Education Program
The Advanced Diploma in Leadership in Early Childhood Care and Education is a leadership development program that is designed for professionals within the early childhood sector. It is a unique combination of courses from the Professional Studies Program Area and the Developmental Studies Degree Program. This diploma program has been approved by the Government's Child Care Education Program Approval Committee (CCEPAC) as a route toward achievement of ECE III classification by Government (when combined with a current ECE II).
Objectives
- To provide leadership training for professionals within the early childhood sector
- To provide an ECE II with the opportunity to become an ECE III
Outcomes
- Understanding of major Canadian and Manitoba social policies as they relate to children and families
- Ability to analyze trends in the childhood sector
- Familiarity with major principles of business management and their interrelationships
- Understanding of key concepts of organizational behaviour and the behaviour of individuals and groups in organizations
- Effective oral and written communication, both interpersonal and team related
- Effective problem-solving techniques
Articulation for Credit
Graduates of the Advanced Diploma in Leadership in Early Childhood Care and Education Program may be eligible for up to 24 hours of equivalent course credits towards an undergraduate degree at The University of Winnipeg.

Professional Edge Seminars: Completion of five one-day seminars (7 hours each) or a combination of one and two-day seminars (14 hours each) (35 hours total).
Program is currently under review. Course requirements may change pending Fall 2009 Senate approval.
APPLICATION PROCESS
For acceptance to the ADLECCE, students must complete an Application for Admission form for both The University of Winnipeg and DCE, and submit originals of all required documentation. Forms are available at the DCE Registration Office or on-line.
