How will I know where to go that first day?

In the acceptance package, you will receive a First Class Orientation letter that provides all the details about where to go the first day, when to arrive, what to bring, and what to expect.

Where are my classes?

All of your classes will be held at the new UWDCE facility, located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg at 460 Portage Avenue. The facility is approximately one block from the central university complex and situated close to all major bus routes and commercial services.

Can I choose which courses I take in the program?

No, the University sets program content and sets the program schedule for its full-time programs. Full-time programs are very comprehensive. Program content is determined in consultation with professional associations, business partners, instructors, and graduates who work in the industry and ongoing program review.

What does the schedule look like?

Most days, you will be in class from 9-4 pm, with one hour for a lunch break. Courses run for full days over 6 to 12 weeks depending on the demands in a particular course. Courses are scheduled by day of week, not time slot.

A typical day runs from 9-4 pm, with one hour for lunch and a morning and afternoon coffee break.

Programs are divided into five distinct blocks of courses, with the final block designated to internship placements.

How will you notify me of any schedule changes?

In the First Class Orientation Package, you will get a finalized program schedule, which includes information about study days, holiday closures, and vacation leave.

Note: The program content and schedule is subject to change. While the University does not anticipate any changes, unexpected events may impact on a full-time Program schedule. In the event of a scheduling change, the University will email students with an electronic copy of the updated course schedule.

Who are my instructors?

UWDCE instructors are respected industry professionals and leading subject-experts who anchor the theoretical components with real-world experience. Our students rate UWDCE instructors highly and identify them as a key factor in their academic success.

What kind of workload can I expect?

The workload is intense. You will have between 25-35 hours of instruction per week and should expect upwards to 40 hours of homework on a weekly basis.

Can I work and study at the same time?

As an international student you can apply for an off-campus work permit once you have six months of continuous full-time study.

By this point in your studies, you should be able to judge whether you can balance the demands of the full-time program with a part-time job. Work cannot interfere with your academic schedule and the University expects you to schedule work shifts outside of classroom hours.
