Prerequisites

  • Students must be admitted in to the Educational Assistant Diploma Program in order to take the NVCI course

Objectives: 

  • To introduce knowledge about non-violent crisis prevention/ intervention and control of disruptive behaviour

Outcomes: 

  • Knowledge about a comprehensive model for crisis intervention that includes recognizing early warning signals to safely manage physically violent individuals
  • Knowledge about how to prevent violence and safely intervene when disruptive behaviour has intensified
  • Knowledge about the significance of least-restrictive, least-harmful and least-physical intervention for prevention and control of disruptive behaviour

  • NOTE: Students receive certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. www.crisisprevention.com
  • Course fee is included in the full time tuition for the Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma Program
