Full-Time Programs

Educational Assistant Diploma Program (Full-time)
(This program will be starting February 2, 2012)

Through the Educational Assistant Diploma Program (EADP) at The University of Winnipeg Division of Continuing Education, you will gain both the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to become a confident and effective presence in the classroom.  Since its inception in 1987, the Educational Assistant Diploma Program has provided innovative and valuable training for students, as well as for qualified and knowledgeable educational assistants, in our school system. The program focuses on the role of the educational assistant within the learning system. Students have the opportunity to share experiences with other educational assistants and gain a broader view of current practices within the school system. Key topics explored include development, reading, writing, language, mathematics and behaviour.

Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma Program (IPPD)

The Indigenous Police Preparation Diploma (IPPD) program will prepare individuals of Métis, First Nation, or Inuit descent to be successful in meeting the admission requirements of police forces across Manitoba. This full time eight month program is scheduled to run in September of each year.

Part-Time Programs

Higher Education Teacher Certificate Program (HETC)

The Division of Continuing Education and the Graduate Studies Department at The University of Winnipeg are pleased to announce a new program - The Higher Education Teaching Certificate (HETC). This program will prepare students for teaching responsibilities they may undertake during and/or post-degree. It is intended to be an introduction to the teaching culture of Academia. It will also be useful for undergraduate students enrolled in Honors programs, and others for whom communication and presentation skills are important.

International Languages Program

In a global market, linguistic know how translates into opportunity. And learning the language enhances understanding and enjoyment of a culture like nothing else. Our range of courses will enable you to communicate in new languages for business, travel and personal interest. The University of Winnipeg is a LEADER in the field of language instruction.

Introduction to University Program

This course will provide useful, practical strategies for reading texts, taking notes, getting the most out of lectures, studying for exams and writing term papers.  You will gain an understanding of the key elements involved in effective listening, various learning styles, memory enhancement, and time management.  This course will also help you understand your individual learning preferences and style.

Lost Prizes: Developing the Talents of At-Risk Students
(This program will be starting August 8, 2011)

This program is intended to provide professional development opportunities for educators who work, or who plan to work, with gifted and talented, at-risk students.  The program will equip educators with the skills required to identify and nurture the gifts of highly capable, but marginalized children and youth.

Additional Offerings

55 Plus Program

Stimulate your mind and remain an intellectually active, vital member of the community as you approach or enjoy retirement. From a study of film classics of the 1940s to current world events, the 55 Plus Program offers non-credit courses (without the tests and assignments) that deliver know how as diverse and interesting as the students who attend them.
